Richard Lee "Rick" Williams
January 4, 1944 – June 2, 2024

Rick enlisted in the US Army on June 17, 1968. His basic and advanced infantry training was completed at Ft. Benning, GA. He received additional training at Ft. Benning as a member of the Dental Company, USA Medical Department Activity from April 1969 to June 1971. He was promoted to SP5 in November 1969.

Rick was assigned to the 38th Medical Detachment at Phu Loi, III Corps, South Vietnam in June 1971. He served at this base as the dental supply specialist, supply specialist and assistant clinic NCO during his Vietnam tour. He has said that some Vietnamese wanted "Dr. Rickee" to work on their teeth, but he declined and referred them to the dentists.

During his Army career, Rick received the National Defense Service medal, the Army Commendation medal and the Vietnam Service medal with 2 stars.

Rick was honorably discharged in December 1971 and returned to his Nebraska family and his teaching career.
