Frank A. Hanna

Born on July 24th,1942, in Poplar Bluff Missouri to Elmer K. Hanna and Kreyl L. Hanna (Pearce). He moved to Omaha Nebraska as a child. He attended and graduated from Central High School in 1961. Soon after high school he was drafted into the US Army, where he served in Vietnam from 1964 to 1966.
Frank served as an MP in the 25th Infantry Division, also known as Tropic Lightning. The division was based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. They were deployed to Vietnam and their headquarters were located at Cu Chi basecamp near the Iron Triangle. Besides police duties the company provided basecamp security, convoy escorts, control of indigenous laborers and the guarding of prisoners of war throughout the division's area of operations. The company received campaign participation credit for twelve Vietnam campaigns. Receiving a meritorious unit commendation, two awards of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Vietnamese Civil Action Medal. Frank received an honorable discharge in 1966, receiving an overseas bar, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal.
After returning to the states, Frank got married in 1968 and had 3 sons, Keith, Brian, and Lee. He worked multiple jobs before starting a long-time career at the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He started as a plumber and after the company merged with the Union Pacific Railroad he landed a position on the Bridge Gang. He retired from the railroad in 2002. After a long battle with COPD caused by the exposure to agent orange in Vietnam, he passed with his family by his side on July 25th, 2024. Frank lived a simple and prosperous life and died a Proud Veteran.
