I served in the First Cavalry Division, Alpha Company, 1st of the 8th. I was an infantry soldier and radio operator. My entire 13 months in country was in close proximity to the Cambodian border (with 1 month in Cambodia); with the mission of interdicting movement of men and supplies coming down the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Cambodia and entering South Vietnam. Our operations were either on foot in the jungle or being moved from place to place via helicopter. We engaged both Viet Cong and Regular NVA forces in support of our mission. I am proud to have served and I salute the 15 "Sky Troopers" from Alpha Company during my time with them who are now listed on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC.
