Thomas J Coleman
Army Spec 4, Americal Infantry Division
Born in Omaha Nebraska, Douglas County.
After growing up in South Omaha Tom was eager to enlist, joining the Army at just seventeen years old.
A patriot to his core, Tom served an extended tour in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1970. Defending the United States of America played a large role in his identity both during and after his service as he continued to live by the values learned in the Army.
Just four months after his return from service Tom married Cathy, his would-be wife of 50 years. They raised three children – Elizabeth, Deena, and Tom, who eventually gave him five grandchildren that filled his elder years with love.
Aside from time with family, Tom spent time displaying his talents both playing and umpiring softball. Other hobbies included curating his coin collection, horse racing, road trips, and of course, Nebraska Football.
Tom, or T.C., worked for the City of Omaha for over 25 years, though many more people know him as from his part-time bartending jobs and as a guest at various South Omaha establishments.
He is missed, loved, and his legacy lives on through the lives he touched.
