Received National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon W/60 DVC, Sharpshooter (M-16 Rifle), Vietnam Service Medal and Two Overseas Bars.

Appointed as Admiral of the Nebraska Navy in 1986. Awarded the Silver Rose by Congress in 2003 to recognize the courage, heroism, and contributions of American service personnel found to have been exposed to Agent Orange in a combat zone.
