Mike was “One of a Kind”. He was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandpa. He had an opinion about everything and most of the time, he made sure he shared that opinion. He genuinely loved his children but loved his grandchildren even more. During holidays and family gatherings, he often succumbed to playing games, only to make that moment the most memorable one at the time due to his sense of humor and silly antics. He enjoyed watching sports, including many football games from the 1970’s which he recorded on VHS tapes. He especially loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers and had quite the collection of memorabilia, which he proudly kept on display.
Mike often told stories from back in the day, embellishing and lengthening them each time they were shared. His favorites included stories of his high school basketball days. He was affectionately referred to as “Stretch” back then because (according to him) he scored so many points on the court! To this day, however, no one can confirm this “impressive” scoring record. Yet still today, the family quotes Mike and laughs while using some of his popular “Mike-isms”, such as his favorite expression, “Back in my day…”.
Mike is missed so very much, and we all trust that he is fully aware of how much he is loved! We look forward to the day when we get to see him again.
GOD BLESS YOU DAD!
