Deborah O. Bails joined the USAF on October 30, 1974. Although her siblings were proud Marines, Debby followed the lead of her other family members and chose to enlist in the USAF. Her first assignment was at Ellsworth Air Force Base as an Aviation Resource Management specialist. Unfortunately, she struggled throughout her short USAF career with not being accepted by the male military members and several medical issues. Thankfully, her commanding officer looked out for her best interest and ensured she stayed in long enough to receive certain benefits.
