Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation Receives Grant from Midlands Community Foundation

On April 24, 2020, Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation (NVVMF) received great news! Midlands Community Foundation, based in Papillion, NE, awarded a generous grant to NVVMF in support of the NVVMF project to build the Nebraska Vietnam Veteran Memorial.  The focal point of the memorial will be a plaza inclusive of memorial obelisks, memorial flags, and other memorial features. The grant funds will be used to retain the services of a professional historian who will write the text that will appear on 11 granite obelisks.  Each obelisks will represent one of the eleven years that the United States was engaged in the Vietnam War. For example, one face of the obelisk representing 1969 will incorporate the names of Nebraskans who were Killed In Action (KIA) or Missing in Action (MIA) from that year. Another face of the 1969 obelisk will summarize important events of the war, both in Vietnam and at home. The NVVMF wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Midlands Community Foundation for supporting this worthy and important project!
