Master Sergeant Lewis B. Larry was born on January 23rd, 1936, to the late Mr. &. Mrs. George Lewis in Prentiss, Mississippi. He attended school in Corinth, Mississippi. In May of 1956 Master Sergeant Larry enlisted in the United States Army. Lewis enjoyed his Army life and distinguished himself in many ways. He loved and had a strong desire to help people. Lewis' military record reflects the service of an outstanding patriot and an outstanding man. He was a completely dedicated professional soldier who was greatly admired by those who served with him and for him. He was a sensitive and compassionate person who heeded the call to service of his country. During his years of dedicated service Master Sergeant Lewis B. Larry continually demonstrated superior skills, insight and superb application of his vast knowledge and experience. During the Vietnam Conflict Master Sergeant Lewis B. Larry, although wounded in action, was able to keep in control of those men under his direction and routed the aggressive forces. The documentary ‘Same Mud Same Blood” with reporter Frank McGee was indicative of his love for man and the country. For gallantry beyond the call of duty, he was presented with our Nation's fourth highest award for heroism. His accomplishments as a soldier in the Service of God and Country are numerous. In addition to his combat involvement, Master Sergeant Lewis B. Larry added to his laurels when he became Assistant Instructor and Drill. Sergeant for the 'Creighton University Army ROTC. In May of 1973 he was voted Outstanding Soldier Of the Year. Having completed 20 years of active and faithful service he earned the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Star Medal w/two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal w/Valor Device and one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart w/one Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal w/four Clasps, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

All these medals, ribbons, badges and awards, reflect great credit upon Master Sergeant Lewis B. Larry in the service of God and his Country. After separating from the Army, Lewis went to work in the private sector. 6 Children: Angela Monegain, Tony Larry, Gerald Larry, Lewis Larry, Shiela Felix, Lori Larry. Departed this life October 28, 1982. Buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha NE.
