Johnnie R. "Farmer" Reynolds

Johnnie was born August 8, 1949 to John and Fern Reynolds, Bloomfield, Nebraska.

He entered the Army on June 11, 1969 serving in Vietnam with the Howitzer Battery 3rd Squadron 11th Armored Cavalry, Blackhorse Regiment. He was discharged of his overseas duty December 16, 1970, then serving in the Army Reserves till his honorable discharge on June 1, 1975.

    Upon being discharged he was awarded the following:
  1. Purple Heart- for wounds received in action in the Republic of Vietnam on November 26, 1969.
  2. Army Commendation Medal for meritorious achievement in the Republic of Vietnam during May 1, 1970 to August 13, 1970.
  3. Good Conduct Medal
  4. National Defense Service Medal
  5. Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars.
  6. Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with Device
  7. Expert Badge with Auto Rifle Bar
  8. Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar
  9. Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Unit Citation
  10. Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation

After returning home he started farming with his father. He married Katherine Hull, May 14, 1972. To this union their daughter Penny was born. Katherine died in 1973. March 8, 1975 he married Marla Strong, welcoming their blended family of Michael, Mark, Steven, and Jodene. They made their home in Niobrara, Nebraska where their children Jami and Cody were born.

Johnnie passed away April 9, 2011 and was laid to rest in the L'Eau Qui Court Cemetery in Niobrara, Nebraska.
