Frederick E. Gesser
Frederick E. Gesser, affectionately known as "Weather Gesser," joined the United States Air Force on November 26, 1966, as a weather technician. He served with distinction in Vietnam from December 8, 1968, to December 8, 1969, as a combat weather observer with the 1st Infantry Division, famously known as the Big Red 1, at Phu Loi and Lai Khe.
Fred's dedication and service earned him numerous awards and medals, culminating in his retirement as a Master Sergeant on February 28, 1987, after 20 years of exemplary service. Most of his career was spent at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. He retired at Scott AFB, Illinois. He spent 2 years, 3 months, and 12 days on foreign land during his career.
