Lt. Colonel Edward J. "Jim" Maloney was born in 1946 in Colorado and entered the US Air Force in 1968 after graduating from Boston College. He was commissioned in 1969 and retired from the US Air Force at Offutt AFB after serving 20 years as a pilot in various aircraft at various bases. In Vietnam he flew the EC-47 aircraft from Sep. 1971 till Sep. 1972 earning several Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After retirement from the Air Force, he was a commercial airline pilot until fully retiring in 2006.
