Rick Wimer,
Honorary Committee Member

Rick was born in Sioux City Iowa, but considered himself a Nebraskan as he has lived most of his life in Nebraska. He joined the Marine Corps the summer he graduated from high school. Rick served a year overseas with Marine Wing Communication Squadron 18 stationed in Iwa Kuni Japan, and later on Okinawa when the unit moved. While overseas he participated in operations in Korea and Australia. Upon returning to the states he served the remainder of his active duty at 29 Palms California.

Rick remained in the Marine Corps reserve for an additional 10 years while finishing his college degree. Rick and his wife Jayne have been married for 37 years and have 5 children.

He has two Marine sons, one still on active duty stationed in California serving as a Cobra helicopter pilot. He also has a daughter serving in the Marine Corps Reserves.

Passionate about working with Veterans, Rick has been involved with 12 trips to Washington DC, taking veterans to visit their memorials on Honor Flights. Rick served on the Norfolk Veterans Foundation Board and he currently serves the American Legion as Financial Officer for Post 70. His membership in the American Legion spans 40 consecutive years.

Very active in the West Point community, Rick serves as Vice President of the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Foundation and he is also a member of West Point Community Foundation. St. Mary’s parish and Knights of Columbus. He has served as an EMT for West Point Rescue for over 33 years. On the American Veterans Park Committee, Rick holds the position of Co-Chairman. He has been actively involved with the building of the American Veterans Park in West Point, for the last 4 years.

He is currently employed with INSPRO Insurance serving as a Senior Vice President and location Manager at the West Point Office location. He has been employed with INSPRO Insurance for the past 33 years.
